Children’s book illustration and show to benefit College of Educational Studies

Enjoy author readings, painting demonstrations, a talk about the power of illustration in children’s literature and more when Chemers Gallery hosts its 22nd Annual Children’s Book Illustration Art Show Book Signing  to benefit the College of Educational Studies on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Among the highlights:

  • Penny S. Bryan, Ph.D., College of Educational Studies, will discuss just how important illustration is to the text of children’s books, starting at 1:45 p.m.
  • John Parra, illustrator of numerous books picture books, including P is for Piñata and Waiting for the Biblioburro, will demonstrate his unique folk art painting style, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
  • Brett Helquist, illustrator of the best-selling Lemony Snicket series and Chasing Vermeer, will discuss Creative Process, beginning at 3:45 p.m.

Talks and presentations are free of charge and open to all. The gallery is located in the Enderle Center, at 17300 17th St., Suite G., in Tustin. For a complete schedule of the day’s events, visit the Chemers Gallery website.
