Can’t get enough Batman? Get your caped crusader fix with alumni fan flick

Batman never dies, but the caped crusader is forever getting re-invented. Thanks to a crew of Chapman University film alumni and one undergraduate, Batman’s latest incarnation is now winging its way through the online world of fandom.

Batman: Puppet Master is a slick fan film created by several alumni who placed their bat vignette in between the events of The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. The fan film introduces viewers to new versions of familiar characters from the Batman comics, including Mr. Zsasz, Scarface and Edward Nigma, aka The Riddler, whom many thought would appear in Christopher Nolan’s third Batman installment. Participating alumni include Ethan Cushing ’08, Christin Mizelle ’08, Dianne Ward ’08, Chris Wiltz ’07, Bryan Nest ’09, David Gibb ’08, Yash Bhatt ’08, Kali (Waters) Cushing ’08 and Frederick Bourbon-Bhopal (MFA).

The filmmakers say they conceived the idea late one night at an alumni writing group and made the project with pure love for Nolan’s trilogy. The 15-minute film can be seen free at batmanpuppetmaster.com. And if you’ve really got bat fever, don’t miss their bat blog.
