One year after Gabrielle Giffords shooting, Prof. Zoellner book resonates

cover-arizonaA Safeway in Arizona, English associate professor Tom Zoellner’s new book exploring the social and political landscape of his home state at the time of the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, is drawing attention throughout the media.

A review in the Boston Globe calls the book “a masterly work of reporting, historical analysis, and sly cultural criticism. Arizona celebrates its 100th birthday next year. Let’s hope Zoellner takes the anniversary as an occasion to pen yet more pieces about the state, in all its horror and hope.”

The book was the featured topic of a post on
Bookish
, a blog of the Houston Chronicle.

And an op-ed piece by Zoellner was featured in
Zócalo Public Square
, where the author continues discussion of “the question of how geography shapes the psyche.”

Zoellner will do a reading and author signing of the book at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Vroman’s in Pasadena, 695 E. Colorado Blvd.
