The Rinker Law Library has a long history of temperature fluctuations throughout its study areas. No matter how diligently the facilities department works to update and improve the heating and cooling system, it is still difficult to calibrate the temperature in the library. The staff at the circulation desk frequently hears students say “It’s too hot” or “It’s too cold” — and sometimes both at the same time.
To help those shivering students, Debbie Lipton, administrative assistant at the library, decided to have a drawing for 10 luxurious wrap-around fleece Snuggies. For a chance to win one of the Snuggies, students had to answer the question, “What book do you like to ‘snuggie’ with?”
The titles submitted ranged from children’s books
Good Night Moon

, to more hefty titles such as
Thoughts on Machiavelli, Hamlet, Gone with the Wind

Lord of the Flies,
to best sellers

A variety of colorful Snuggies were purchased and stitched with the legal-themed slogan “It’s my law suit.” Approximately 70 students participated in the drawing.
Overall, it was a fun and “warming” experience for the library and the students, Lipton says.
