Not sure what the chef will choose, but something from the farmer’s market will find its way into cooking demos.

Feel like a free cooking demonstration delivered in a setting of wonderful fresh produce and artisan foods? Then be sure to be at The Old Towne Orange Farmers and Artisan Market by 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, in the Villa Park Orchards parking lot of Chapman University.

Orange Home Grown
, the community non-profit group that hosts the weekly markets on Chapman’s campus, has added cooking demonstrations to the July schedule. Each week a chef will create a dish that includes at least one market product.

This week’s featured chef is Alberto Francoli, owner of Francoli Gourmet. Other guest chefs on the schedule include Michael Rossi of The Ranch Restaurant & Saloon, July 16; Gabbi Patrick of Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen, July 23; and Diego Velasco, of Memphis at the Santora, July 30. Each demo will be followed by a chef Q&A with the audience.

The Villa Park Orchards lot is at 304 N. Cypress Street.

  • Anyone tried the green plums pictured here? They are tasty! Crunchy and refreshing, and with a little pinch of salt, delightful.
