It’s hard to find a headline today where energy isn’t part of the story, from the crisis in Japan to the tumult in the Middle East, from green research to prices at the gas pump.
To explore those issues and more Chapman University’s Center for Global Education will host a day-long “The Future of Energy” conference featuring an international roster of experts Friday, April 1. James J. Coyle, Ph.D., director of global education, and author of the Eurasian Energy Analysis blog, says the conference brings an interdisciplinary approach to the problems of energy.
“Energy has aspects that belong to the political sciences, sciences and business,” Coyle said.
There will be presentations on nuclear energy, the geopolitics of energy, Chinese energy requirements, and the interconnection between Central Asian energy and European needs. Among the many presenters will be George Peterson, AutoPacific; Marc Eichhorn, German Consulate General Los Angeles; Alexandros Petersen, Atlantic Council; and Robert Copaken, Copaken Energy Consultants.
The conference will be in Beckman Hall 404, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with welcome and introductions and continuing throughout the day. The closing session at 4:45 p.m. will feature energy entreprenuer Barry Watkins on “Fuels of the Future will rebuild the Wealth of America.”
