
It’s a remarkable enough story to run the Boston Marathon through one of those infamous nor’easters, pelted by rain, wind and even a swirl of paper cups. But President Jim Doti recalls more than just the dramatic weather of that 2007 race in an essay published in the March/April issue of

In the essay, titled “From Arusha to Fort Sill Via Boston,” President Doti shares the story of how he met Beatus Mushi in Tanzania and reflects on the journey of their father-son relationship and friendship, Mushi’s time at Chapman University as a student and their triumphant finish-line moment in the Boston Marathon, nor’easter and all.
