SikhLens will hold its annual Sikh Art and Film Festival (SAFF) Nov. 19-20 at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University. SAFF provides a venue for artists to present their “Sikhcentric” films, art, and music to the broader community with the intent of showcasing their talents and generating increased Sikh awareness.
The festival begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, with a red-carpet Opening Night. Guests will be welcomed to the festival by a set of short films, live entertainment, and the premiere of the 2011 SikhPoint Calendar. A dessert and dance reception will conclude the night.
A youth-focused cluster of events will start off the Saturday events, with special screenings and book readings about Sikh history. Panel discussions and a variety of short screenings will follow. Then Saturday evening’s events will kick off with a heart-pounding music video and the 2010 SAFF feature film. Films exploring the Sikh Diaspora will be featured on Sunday.
