Laura Silva, web coordinator for Wilkinson College and founder of Grandma Love, her family’s Relay for Life team we wrote about in spring, is participating in the 20th Annual CHOC Walk in the Park, a benefit that supports Children’s Hospital of Orange County. In a show of community appreciation, Kristina Driskill, adjunct faculty, College of Performing Arts, baked up some cookies for the crew at her local fire station. Firefighters love to repay such kind deeds with a firehouse tour and photo opportunity for the children of such sweet benefactors. But Driskill has no children, so she asked if she could bring her rabbit, Magic. The firemen obliged and here’s a photo to prove the hoppy ending.
Speaking of hops, stroll through Old Towne this weekend and catch up with some of the serious foodie action brewing there. The Bruery, a beer, wine and cheese shop specializing in craft brewed beers and artisanal food products, held a soft opening last night. And just across the street is the newly-opened The Bite Market, a community grocery store specializing in gluten-free and dairy-free products.
