“It felt good to change.”

Those are weighty words for anyone, but especially profound when spoken by an eighth-grade boy describing his transformation from bully to student leader. The young man was helped by a counseling program led by
Chapman University
alumna Ami Whitaker, a counselor at Orangeview Junior High in Anaheim, and Chapman graduate student Randee Kirkemo. Read more about their work in an
Orange County Register
article that featured Whitaker’s students in a story exploring what Orange County schools are doing to solve the problem of student bullies.
