has become a certifying organization for the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award, a national program that recognizes outstanding commitments to volunteer service.
The department applied for certification as a means of further honoring the many service hours contributed by Chapman students, faculty, staff and families, said Chris Hutchison, director of student civic engagement.
“It’s a way to recognize, appreciate and thank those who do volunteer community service,” Hutchison said.
There are four categories and three levels of the award, varying by age and hours served within a 12-month period. Chapman’s reporting period is May 1 through April 30 – so remember to count your summer service! Categories include Kids, 14 and younger; Young Adults, 15 to 25; Adults, 26 and up; and Families and Groups. Levels include bronze, silver and gold. Visit the
