Rae Armantrout, the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet whose poems the Pulitzer Committee described as “little thought-bombs detonating in the mind long after the first reading,” will open Tabula Poetica’s Poetry Reading Series at Chapman University this fall.
“We’re proud to have built such a strong list of visiting writers this quickly. Rae Armantrout had already agreed to participate in Tabula Poetica’s series before she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award,” said Anna Leahy, Ph.D., associate professor, and director of Tabula Poetica.
Armantrout won the 2010 Pulitzer for
Versed

“(Chapman assistant professor) Logan Esdale and I had taught Armantrout’s work in our courses, so we were especially pleased that
Versed
was recognized,” Leahy said.
This fall will be Tabula Poetica’s third series, which is supported by Wilkinson’s Department of English and grants from the James Irvine Foundation.
