A puppet for your thoughts?

The gang's all here. Finger puppets missing from photo are Jane Austen and Virginia Woolfe. Guess they got out of hand.

We have to hand it to the librarians at Leatherby Libraries. They’ve added a handful of finger puppets to the booty that awaits readers who participate in their summer reading program.

This is the fourth summer for Community of Readers, but if it’s new to you here’s how it works. Check out a book from Leatherby, read it and submit a short review to the Community of Readers
website
and you’re automatically entered in the drawing for one of many literary-themed prizes. And you get to choose a cool bookmark bearing the likeness of a literary luminary. Three reviews earn you a coffee mug of your choice of one of those cute finger puppets — there are 20 different little characters from which to choose. Ditto for five reviews. Readers who submit seven reviews can choose from the pun-loving collection of sticky notes with names like Freudian Slips, Van Gogh Post-Impressions and Musical Notes.

Overachievers who submit 10 reviews this summer may choose from a host of goodies stowed in the library’s mysterious “secret stash.”

Books must be read and reviews submitted by Aug. 13. The program is open to staff, students, faculty and alumni as well as community members who purchase a library card. So start reading. The first reviews have already been posted.
