Think you know your way to a perfect bowl of chili? Then gear up for the Chapman Alumni Association’ s first Chili Cook-Off, scheduled from noon to 4 p.m., Oct. 23, on the Bert C. Williams Mall during Homecoming and Family Weekend.
The association invites everyone in the university community – faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni – to join the fun by entering a cook-off team. There will even be a Chapman Chili Cook-Off Cookbook available for sale the day of the event featuring cook-off recipes. (Teams are asked to submit their recipes in advance for inclusion. Don’t worry! No one will give away your top secret ingredients before competition day. And if the response is huge, the overflow of recipes will be posted online.)
Teams will be asked to cook their chili off site, but bring all the gear they need to keep the chili hot and to create a festive booth. Awards will be given for “Grand Champion Chili,” “Best Spirited Team Award” and “People’s Choice Award.” The top winner will be featured on President Doti’s cooking show.
Besides the chili tasting, there will be a beer garden, children’s fun zone and entertainment. Visit the
