Chapman University recently celebrated its 22nd Annual Staff Appreciation Thanksgiving Brunch, a long-standing tradition begun by Margie McCoy in the College of Educational Studies (now Attallah College) in 2003. Hosted in partnership with Chapman faculty, the President’s Office, the Provost’s Office, Human Resources, and Sodexo, the event once again brought staff together for a morning of community and gratitude.
Held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, the brunch welcomed hundreds of staff members across three seating sessions in the Argyros Forum Athenaeum. Attendees enjoyed a warm, seasonal brunch menu while connecting with colleagues and being served by Chapman faculty volunteers.
Athenaeum Manager Heidi Laski greeted attendees with a warm welcome, emphasizing the spirit of gratitude that defines the annual gathering. She shared her appreciation with the community, saying, “You work so hard every year, and we just wanted to all say thank you, and our great faculty is here to serve you. Thanksgiving’s our favorite holiday, and it’s a chance to be thankful to all of you.”
Heidi also acknowledged the many people who contributed to the success of the event, including faculty volunteers, the Senate Executive Board, and the Sodexo staff who prepared and served the meal. She also shared a message from President Matt Parlow, who extended warm holiday wishes to all staff.
The brunch once again highlighted Chapman’s deep appreciation for its staff and the vital role they play across the university. The sense of community, celebration, and gratitude helped carry forward a tradition that continues to grow each year.
