Kyndra Rotunda, professor of military and international law in Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, returned to her home state of Wyoming to receive the Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Wyoming.
“It was a pleasure to return home to the Cowboy State,” Rotunda said. “My education at the University of Wyoming was outstanding and laid the foundation for a fulfilling career. I’m deeply grateful and committed to paying it forward.”
Rotunda earned both her bachelor’s degree in political science and her law degree from UW, where her academic achievements earned her membership in Phi Beta Kappa and the American Law Institute. Now, she’s being recognized not only for her legal career, but also for her commitment to public service and veteran advocacy.
Before joining Chapman, Rotunda served as a U.S. Army JAG officer, rising to the rank of major. Her service included assignments as a legal adviser, military commissions prosecutor and advocate for wounded service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She was also deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as part of her work supporting missions during the Global War on Terror.
She later returned to Wyoming in a civilian leadership role, serving as state planning coordinator under Governor Dave Freudenthal and leading the state’s policy team.
In addition to her teaching and leadership at Chapman, Rotunda is a published author and frequent media commentator on military and veterans law.
Her recognition reflects a wide-ranging career that bridges military service, legal scholarship and public leadership. Please join us in congratulating Professor Rotunda on this honor.
