Lehman family
Families like the Lehmans contribute to the Chapman Family through volunteering to recruit and welcome the next generation of Panthers.

Each year, students, alumni and parents show up in meaningful ways to recruit and welcome the next generation of Panthers.

Admissions events are a first opportunity for prospective students to see Chapman through the eyes of those who know it best. Volunteers share insights into what campus life is really like—academics, housing, job prep, safety and more—plus, how prospective students can make the most of their experience to set them up for life after graduation.

Hearing it directly from those who know, like Laura Roosevelt ’17, makes all the difference. This past summer, Roosevelt volunteered to work at a college fair in Colorado, sharing her passion for Chapman with high schoolers and their families.

“Attending Chapman was one of the best decisions of my life,” she explained. “As a Denver native, I enjoy helping Colorado students see why Chapman is such a special place. Volunteering my time allows me to give back to the Chapman community in a meaningful way, all the way from Colorado!”

Summer Welcome Receptions bring that warm Chapman connection to life. Held in cities across California, the country, and virtually, these gatherings allow incoming families to connect before orientation and the academic year. Laughter, conversation and shared stories help turn anticipation into excitement. Incoming students and their parents can ask questions and receive guidance on how to navigate life as a Panther.

Liliane Lehman and her son, Kyle, host a summer welcome reception because it helps them feel closer

to the Chapman community. “Hosting a summer welcome reception allows us to meet incoming students and families and help create that Chapman community before they even arrive on campus,” they shared.

“The transition to college can be difficult, and it gets real pretty quick. Having someone there to help ease their nerves and answer their questions is very helpful.”

Alumni panels give prospective students a front-row seat to what life after Chapman can look like. Whether at Orientation, career fairs, Homecoming, Parent Spring Summit, or hosted by Chapman’s 11 schools and colleges, these events offer authentic insights from graduates who’ve lived the journey.

“Chapman gave me so much that I am eternally grateful for,” said Allyson Wadman ’17. “I didn’t just receive an education, but I gained a life-long community that believes in me and set me on the trajectory for success after college. That’s why I love volunteering my time through speaking on panel, participating in informational interviews, hosting alumni get-togethers in Las Vegas, and mentoring students. It’s my way of giving back and helping the next generation of Chapman graduates feel as supported and empowered as I did.”
