University Closes for Independence Day Holiday July 3-4; President Struppa Announces Staff Early Release on July 2 at 3 p.m.

In observance of Independence Day, Chapman University will be closed on Friday, July 4, and no classes will be held. Additionally, President Daniele C. Struppa has approved an extended holiday for staff, and all administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, July 3.

Staff may also be dismissed early at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, to allow for an early start to the holiday weekend. Please coordinate with your supervisor, as all early releases require supervisor approval.

Please note that while July 3 is a holiday for staff, classes will still be held on that day in accordance with the 2024–25 academic calendars for both the Orange and Rinker campuses. This includes Summer Sessions I, II, IV, V and Summer Trimester II. It is imperative that these classes meet as scheduled to fulfill the required contact hours for academic credit.

If you have questions or concerns regarding your class schedule, please contact the chair or associate dean of your academic unit.

As always, Chapman’s Public Safety dispatch remains available 24/7 at (714) 997-6763. If you are off campus or using a cell phone, dial 911 to connect with your local emergency services.
