With a mission to amplify student voices and serve as a hub for creative activity on campus, Chapman Radio has continued to grow as one of the top college radio stations in the country.
That growth has led to a number of recognitions over the years, including being consistently named one of the top 20 radio stations in the nation by Princeton Review.
Most recently, Chapman Radio earned several awards at the 2025 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Conference and Awards Ceremony in New York City’s Times Square. The IBS, an 86-year-old national organization, recognizes excellence in college radio, with stations from across the country submitting audio content for award consideration.
At the ceremony, Chapman Radio earned 10 national award nominations and took home four national college radio awards. These include:
- Best Specialty Show (Non-Music): RealiTea Check – Megan Lasala, Cecilia Ward, Maya Milne, Brooke Duncan
- Best Show Promotional Poster: State of Mind – Press Start! – Chloe Wong, Lisa Wong
- Best Social Media Campaign: Is It OK? – Is Hookup Culture OK? – Maika Suaya, Smith Romney
- Best Streaming-Only Station (Under 10,000 Students): Chapman Radio
Students working at Chapman Radio were especially proud that the station was named the best streaming-only college radio station in the country. After four consecutive years of nominations, the station finally secured the top honor.
The national acclaim is recognition of the unique blend of student creativity, professional development and community engagement that makes Chapman Radio so special. As a student-run radio station, students aren’t just participating, they’re gaining real-world experience in broadcasting, media production, marketing and management. As a great resume booster, gaining hands-on experience while working at the station can be a stepping stone for careers in media, entertainment and communications.
The station also reflects the unique, student-centered and intellectually-driven culture of the university. Students from all majors are able to participate and collaborate with one another, bringing their unique passions and talents together.
