“Evaluating the Impact of Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) Infection on Infants and Children During the COVID and RSV Control Era”
The interdisciplinary team, led by Yang, will investigate changes in hMPV infection rates among infants and young children, further characterizing the infection’s impact across age groups.

“Impact of Vitamin D on Gut Microbiome and Metabolome Among Pediatric Oncology Patients”
This project will provide insights into the underexplored area of how vitamin D influences gut microbiome diversity in pediatric cancer patients. Yang is collaborating with Rishikesh Chavan, an oncologist at CHOC, and Shirley Tsunoda, associate dean for pharmacy education at Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at UC San Diego.
