A new academic year is underway, and that means a new class of undergraduates are ready to begin their Chapman journeys. During Orientation, members of the Class of 2028 shared why they chose Chapman, told us what excites them the most now that they’re here, and talked about their hopes for the future.

Sage Rumney thought Chapman was the perfect location and loves the community atmosphere. She's excited to meet new people and to start classes as a dance major. She also hopes to study health sciences. ``I plan to dance professionally,`` she said. ``I'd like to dance on a cruise line after college, and, after that, freelance and see where life takes me!``

Brady, who is from Boston, chose Chapman because he wanted to experience life on the West Coast. “I have some friends that go here and they all love it,” he said. He’s planning to study dance and business, and is most excited about meeting new friends that are going to be friends forever. After college, he has hopes of becoming an NFL cheerleader or a background dancer.

Marilin is a business administration major who first visited Chapman on a field trip. “The first thing I saw was the Orange Circle, and there was a girl taking pictures there for her graduation. And I thought, ‘That’s gonna be me.’ And then we walked into the business school and it smelled like coffee and I said, ‘That’s going to be me in the mornings!’” She’s excited about the opportunities available, and hopes to graduate with an internship or job lined up at NBC Universal.

“I came to Chapman because I thought this place was a really good place to connect with people and I love the environment here,” said Brandon. He’s majoring in business, and is excited to meet new people. He’s not sure what he wants to do after college. “Maybe helping my dad grow his business or working under Youtube,” he said.

As a peace studies major, Bess hopes she can make the world a better place. She came to Chapman mostly for the people. “The teachers are really kind, and so are the students, so it just felt like a great environment,” she said. She’s excited to talk to new people, make new friends, and take classes that she really loves. Her plans for the future include traveling the world and enjoying new experiences.

“All of my life, I’ve been in public schools and I wanted to try something new,” said Hannah, a physics and environmental science major. She knew coming to Chapman from the Antelope Valley would be a culture shock, but she wanted to go somewhere that was out of her comfort zone. “There’s a lot of opportunities for me, and I’m excited to try them out and figure out what’s good and what’s not,” she said. Her post-college plans include moving abroad and attending graduate school.
