Giving Day 2024 Aims to Surpass 1,000 Gifts and Celebrates Dr. Jim Doti’s 50 Years

On Thursday, April 18, Chapman University will hold its sixth annual Giving Day, a 24-hour online fundraising event that rallies the Chapman Family together to support our students, faculty and campuses. This year’s goal is to surpass 1,000 gifts.

All gifts on Giving Day are earmarked for the Chapman Fund, the university’s unrestricted fund, which supports student scholarships, program enrichment, faculty and the university’s emerging needs. Gifts on Giving Day provide an immediate and tangible impact.

“As the Chapman Fund’s most important fundraising event of the year, Giving Day is truly a celebration of the Chapman Family,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer Matt Parlow. “A gift of any size matters and, collectively, makes a powerful impact on our community.”

As a scholarship recipient and business administration major, Aria ’24 is grateful for his personalized education at Chapman, which was made possible by Giving Day supporters.

“I have been able to receive mentorship and resources that I would not have received otherwise,” he said. “The Chapman Fund allows Chapman to keep class sizes small so students can develop personalized relationships with faculty and staff.”

Like Aria, political science major and scholarship recipient Emily ’24 knows that her Chapman Experience was made possible by supporters.

“My campus involvements have defined who I am as a student,” she said. “It’s very unique to Chapman’s experience that you are able to tap into so many different aspects of yourself.”

Giving Day is especially meaningful this year because Chapman is celebrating President Emeritus Jim Doti’s 50 years at Chapman. His leadership shaped Chapman’s history and fueled its remarkable growth from a small, regional institution to a nationally ranked university.

Giving Day has raised millions of dollars for the Chapman Fund since its inception in 2019. This year, exciting matches and a special Dr. Doti challenge will help maximize the event’s overall impact.
