We are thrilled to kick off the summer semester at the Orange campus and would like to express our gratitude to our faculty and staff for their unwavering commitment to our academic research and mission. Your dedication and support are greatly appreciated as we collaborate to ensure student success.
To our Orange campus employees, we want to inform you about the summer policies that will be in effect starting immediately and concluding on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023.
Summer Hours:
During the summer, most departments at Chapman University’s Orange campus have the flexibility to offer summer work hours. However, department heads must consider operational needs, department size, impact on co-workers, and any periods where summer hours may not be feasible. Departments with set office hours must remain open during regular business hours.
If you work in a department that can accommodate summer work hours, please discuss your preferred schedule with your department head and obtain approval before making any changes to your work hours. You have the following schedule choices:
- Work from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break (typically from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
- Work from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break (typically from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
- Alternatively, continue to work the regular operating hours for university offices from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
Administrators who wish to adjust their schedules should consult with the appropriate division or department head to ensure consistency with their responsibilities and the essential business operations of their departments.
On Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, all employees will return to the standard schedules for their departments. For most staff members, this means adhering to the standard university workday schedule of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
