CU Staying Healthy – A Campus Health Update From the Office of the President Daniele C. Struppa, Ph. D.

Campus Community —

I’m pleased to report that a reduction in new COVID cases and hospitalizations across Orange County has resulted in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shifting the county from “high” to the “medium” COVID-19 community level.

As emphasized in this week’s Staff Town Hall, there is no longer a CDC recommendation that requires weekly COVID-19 testing for those who are not up to date with vaccinations or current with CDC-recommended boosters.

Below is an overview of the four current COVID-19 campus protocols:

  • Masks are recommended, but not required.
  • The daily health survey requirement remains in place, and Public Safety representatives checking for a CLEAR message when accessing campus facilities.
  • On-campus testing is provided at no cost to Chapman community members but is no longer required. Take action if exposed and get tested.
  • Protect yourself. All faculty, staff and students are required either to submit proof of having all vaccinations and boosters for which they are eligible or to file a personal declination.

All COVID-19 protocols are posted on the CU Staying Healthy website.

Please remember we are hosting an Aug. 31 vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the COVID-19 Testing Center. This event is open to Chapman students, faculty and staff and their family members 3 and older.

As we shift to a focus on personal responsibility in order to slow the spread of COVID-19, the university’s Task Force will continue its work to offer steady information to help you know your risk; protect yourself; and take action if exposed to COVID-19, and if you are sick or test positive.
