Sustainability 101: Local Food Resource Guide

Living sustainably means caring about your physical well-being, too. Whether you’re a student, staff or faculty member, if you are in need of food, please do not hesitate to take advantage of the available community resources and share them with students, too. Below are some on-campus and off-campus resources courtesy of the Office of Sustainability.

  • The Morlan Food Pantry is an on-campus food pantry, for students only, with shelf stable food and some fresh produce. To access the food pantry, simply fill out the Access Request Form
    • If you would like to support the food pantry financially, you’re welcome to donate.
  • Calfresh is California’s version of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) which allows eligible students to receive up to $192 a month for groceries.
  • Waste Not OC focuses on food recovery, food waste and helps those experiencing food insecurity. Check out the website for more information on food pantries near you.
  • Second Harvest Food Bank is a food bank that provides services located in Irvine, CA. Visit the website to find out more information on the services available.
  • OC Food Help includes a free food map for locations where anyone can receive free food in the community and CalFresh sign up assistance. Another map that lists resources for food insecure people is Food Finder
  • Saddleback Church Grocery Distribution has multiple locations, dates, and times for food distribution and food pick up.
  • Cantlay Food Distribution Center (Society of St Vincent de Paul) offers food distribution on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and CalFresh (Food Stamps). Application services. Contact Michael Tijerino for any questions.
