Orange, Calif. – The W. M. Keck Foundation awarded Chapman University’s George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics a $200,000 gift to establish the Robert Day Endowment for Research in Economic Analysis.  The new endowment will produce grants to expand the impact of Chapman’s world-renowned economics researchers.

“We are thrilled to receive this investment from the Keck Foundation and are grateful for the generosity of Robert Day,” said Thomas Turk, Ph.D., dean of the Argyros School of Business and Economics. “The Robert Day Endowment will expand the long-established legacy of our Anderson Center for Economic Research and attract new talent to the ranks of the Argyros School and Chapman University.”

Robert Day is a business executive and philanthropist.  He is the Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the W.M. Keck Foundation.  He also serves as Chairman of Oakmont Corporation and is founder and former Chairman of Trust Company of the West (TCW Group, Inc.)

The A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research was established in 1979 to provide data, facilities and support to encourage faculty and students to engage in economic research of high quality and to widely disseminate the results. For more than 40 years, its semiannual Economic Forecast has guided business leaders.  The Anderson Center’s most recent economic forecast received more than 7,000 views.  The Argyros School’s Economic Sciences Institute, led by Nobel Laureate Vernon Smith, ranks number two in the world in Experimental Economics research.  Combined with the newly formed Smith Institute for Political Economy and Philosophy, and the Institute for Religion, Economics and Society, the Argyros School has emerged as an international leader in economics research.

The gift from the W.M. Keck Foundation continues their strong support to Chapman University. In 2017, the foundation named the Keck Center for Science and Engineering, with a transformative gift of $21 million.  This new endowment represents the foundation’s first gift to the Argyros School of Business and Economics.
