Novelist Juan B. Guerrero Ávila to visit Librería Martínez de Chapman University

Author Juan B. Guerrero Ávila will speak and sign books at Librería Martínez de Chapman University Saturday, Feb. 8, at 4 p.m. Guerrero Ávila will talk about his novel Mi Amigo el Flamboyan (My Friend the Flamboyan Tree).  Set during the tyranny of Trujillo in the Dominican Republic, it’s the touching story of a family where the father’s absence is overcome by the mother’s wishes of progress for her children.

The author has taught in several North American universities and in the Dominican Republic.  He graduated from Pedro Henriquez Ureña National University in the Dominican Republic, and completed master’s degrees at Oswego College (NY) and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.  He received his Ph.D. from Biola University’s (CA) School of Intercultural Studies. He is currently a professor in the Department of Modern Languages at Azusa Pacific University.

The event is free and open to the public.   Librería Martínez de Chapman University is located at 216 N. Broadway in Santa Ana. Sales of this book (and all items in the store) benefit the educational programs of Librería Martínez de Chapman University.
