With a toast and many fond words, the Donor Wall of Honor in the Marvin W. Meyer Faculty Athenaeum was officially unveiled at a special reception this month.
The names listed on the wall plaque pay tribute to the inaugural contributors to a scholarship fund established in memory of the late professor who held the Griset Chair in Bible and Christian Studies and was director of the Albert Schweitzer Center.
President Jim Doti said the extraordinary generosity of faculty, staff and alumni who supported the Marvin W. Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund with an initial $150,000 endowment made it particularly meaningful.
“It means so much to me because it says so much about our ethos, our community and who we all are as a university,” Doti said.
Speaking on behalf of the faculty, colleague and friend Nancy Martin, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Religious Studies, echoed that sentiment.
“We are so privileged that Marv chose to invest so much of his humanity in Chapman and in all of us – as colleagues, friends and students,” Martin said.
