Chapman University invites all to new ‘Winterfest’ celebration, Nov. 29

Chapman University will launch a new outdoor holiday tradition this year, open to the public, featuring a tree illumination, live performances by student music ensembles and a holiday marketplace on campus.

“Winterfest and Doy’s Holiday Tree-Lighting” will take place on Thursday, Nov. 29, beginning at 5 p.m.  on the university’s Attallah Piazza.  The tree that will be illuminated is officially named “Doy’s Tree,” for Chapman University Trustee and longtime university supporter Doy Henley.

The festivities will include a marketplace of booths selling holiday gifts (jewelry, handbags, etc.); live performances of holiday and seasonal music by the Chapman pep band, brass ensemble and choir; free hot chocolate and hot cider; and activities for children, including a train ride.  Visitors can tour the trees around the Piazza, decorated by student groups.  The grand finale will be the illumination of Doy’s Tree and surrounding trees in the center of the campus.

All festivities are free and open to the public, and Chapman cordially invites all students, faculty and staff and our neighbors in Orange to attend and enjoy this new holiday tradition!
