In recognition of her work with military veterans, Kyndra Rotunda, associate professor and executive director of the Chapman University’s AMVETS Legal Clinic, was presented with a 2012 Women Making a Difference Award by State Sen. Lou Correa at the 34th District’s 2012 Woman of the Year reception and ceremony, held Friday, March 9, in Westminster.

The award was presented in honor of the Women’s History Month observance sponsored by the senator’s office and Westminster Mayor Margie L. Rice. Receiving the 2012 Woman of the Year award at the event was Army Maj. Maria Lanfor.

“This honor really extends to everyone who works in, and supports, our AMVETS legal clinic and AMVETs, Department of California. It is, by no means, a one woman show. We couldn’t do this work without our wonderful team of faculty, fellows, students and volunteers,” Rotunda said.

In January 2009, Chapman University launched the legal clinic, which has grown  and is now part of the Institute for Military Personnel, Veterans, Human Rights and International Law.

The AMVETS Legal Clinic is a pro-bono law clinic for military service personnel and veterans unlike any other on the West Coast. The program provides invaluable experience to Academic Fellows and free legal representation to veterans, service members and their families.
