A special reception was held this week at the Elliott Alumni House to celebrate the naming of the Town & Gown Gardens at the historic 1904 home located at the corner of North Olive Street and West Maple Avenue.
The purchase and restoration of the Queen Anne-style home was largely supported by a gift from Tom Elliott ’60 and Pat (Wood) Elliott ’60, ’74. But even before that gift, Town & Gown was among the earliest supporters of the project, said Sheryl Bourgeois, executive vice president for University Advancement.
“Town & Gown is truly the group that leads,” Bourgeois told the Town & Gown members gathered at the Tuesday ceremony. “When really we had no other support at the time, Town and Gown made its commitment before even knowing that your dear friends, Pat and Tom Elliott, would be the lead donors on this project.”
