The good news is that this past weekend President Jim Doti finished the Portland Marathon in 4 hours, 4 minutes, which qualifies him for the Boston Marathon ’13. (He already qualified for Boston ’12.) Plus, his time landed him in third place out of 53 runners in his age group. It’s the first time he’s made it in the top three Winners Circle for any of the 36 official marathons he’s run.
The bad news is that he reports he’s a bit sore for Saturday’s “flattest, fastest and ‘funnest’ 5k in the world.” So does that mean he’ll be easier to beat this year? We wouldn’t count on it, but for anyone game enough to try, there’s still time to

for the Saturday, Oct. 15, Chapman University Toyota of Orange 5K Run/Walk that is part of
Homecoming and Family Weekend.
Congratulations Dr. Doti for your continuing example of the physical aspect of Chapman’s Four Pillars to the campus community. You personally invited me via email to the 2010 Chapman 5K and I was back for this year’s run as well, with a time better than last year (31:31) and 15 pounds lighter.
