Proving that we’re always hungry for summer news from traveling faculty and staff, we offer readers this latest dispatch and photograph from Marv Meyer, Ph.D., Griset Professor of Religious Studies at Chapman University.
Dr. Meyer delivered an invited paper titled
Albert Schweitzer, Reverence for Life, and World Religions
at an international conference on “Morality, Spirituality, and Culture” meeting at Yibin University in China on May 29. While there he also met with an award-winning filmmaker to discuss collaborating on a future film about Schweitzer. And he also got a taste for local cuisine, consuming two brown scorpions at a market in Beijing. “I’m still trying to justify eating those scorpions with Schweitzer’s ethic of reverence for life,” Meyer confessed.
