Kent Lehnhof, Ph.D., associate professor of English, has published a personal essay about that rite of passage schools undergo this time of year – the commencement ceremony.
Recalling his first commencement as a faculty member in borrowed regalia, Lehnof writes: “When commencement day came, I dutifully donned my inherited attire, signed in with the events staff, and took my place in the faculty lineup. I was overcome with foreboding. I felt like the Sean Penn character in
Dead Man Walking.”
