With praise for her diligent work, patience, friendship and “Judy blankets” knitted for babies born to faculty and staff in the College of Performing Arts, Judy Long, secretary to Dean William Hall of the College of Performing Arts, was celebrated at a festive retirement reception Wednesday afternoon.

“This is a time that is joyful and sad at the same moment,” Dean Hall said to a crowd of faculty, staff, students and alumni well wishers who filled Beckman 404.

Long, whose parents graduated from Orange High School while it was still located on what is now Chapman University, came to work for Chapman in 1972 as the secretary in the Residence Education Centers and for Extended Education. After a move to the Midwest, she returned in 1981 to work in the financial aid office and transferred to the music department in 1985.
