Conservatory of Music rolls out the Beethoven for Sholund Concert

If you need a lift of inspiring music don’t miss the 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, Sholund Scholarship Concert, which brings the Chapman University Choirs and the Chapman Chamber Orchestra together for the Conservatory of Music’s biggest concert of the year.

Featured will be an almost all-Beethoven program, a natural fit for Chapman University at any time but especially as it celebrates its 150^th Anniversary, said Daniel Alfred Wachs, conductor.

“Beethoven is considered one of the most important composers as a result of his unwavering belief in mankind, in humanism – in the ideals of the enlightenment, which are reflected in those of Chapman University’s,” Wachs said.

The program will feature Leonore Overture III, Mass in C, Ave Verum Corpus and Hadyn’s Te Deum in C.

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors and students. Proceeds from the concert benefit an endowed music scholarship named in memory of the late Edgar Sholund, a past chairman of the music department.
