By now you’ve heard all about the cake that will look like Memorial Hall and the doo-wop concert and the other festivities planned for Chapman University’s 150
th
Anniversary Birthday Party and Campus Open House on Friday, May 6.

But feel free to jump start the fun right now by visiting the
150th Anniversary website
where you can post your favorite Chapman memories and predictions for its future. And be sure to sign up for some of the free public “master classes” that will be taught by six of the university’s top professors.

Then we’ll see you Friday, beginning at 3 p.m. with live performances by student groups, information booths from all seven of the university’s schools and colleges, children’s activities, an art walk and a display of live sea slugs and Galapagos tortoises from the Schmid College of Science.

At 6 p.m. there will be free hot dogs, chips and lemonade for all, as performances and activities continue.   A beer and wine garden will offer adult beverages for purchase.

At 7:30 p.m. the anniversary program will begin, with short remarks by Chapman President Jim Doti, Ph.D., Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez ’82 and Orange Mayor Carolyn Cavecche, followed by the presentation of a giant birthday cake in the shape of Chapman’s iconic Memorial Hall.

At 8:30 p.m. there will be a concert by The Alley Cats, a campus favorite doo-wop group. Finally, a spectacular display of fireworks shot from the roof of Leatherby Libraries around 8:45 pm will close the big 150
th
