It isn’t often that the acclaimed Italian author and poet Giuseppe Conte visits the U.S. – so it’s a rare treat to have him here to present a free talk and reading as part of Chapman University’s John Fowles Literary Series at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 25 in the Henley Reading Room of Leatherby Libraries.
And the next day, Tuesday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m., Conte continues his Southern California tour at the
Istituto Italiano di Cultura
in Los Angeles, where he’ll appear “In Conversation” with Robert Buranello, Ph.D., the Paul & Marybelle Musco Professor of Italian Studies at Chapman. Dr. Buranello recently translated Conte’s novel
I personaggi dei romanzi futuri
(
Angelina’s Lips
) (Guernica, 2011). There will be a light reception, and copies of the novel will be available for signing.

Conte contributes to several Italian newspapers and magazines, and lectures at universities around the world. He is one of the best-regarded Italian poets since the 1970s, and his collections of poems include
