Pacific Symphony announced
Chapman University
’s Cody Morgan ’11 the winner of the “
OC Can You Sing
” amateur singing competition.  The four finalists sang to more than 6,000 audience members March 17-19 and Morgan was voted the winner by audience members and a
Pacific Symphony
panel of judges.

“My favorite part was right before I walked out on stage, hearing my name announced to introduce me,” said Morgan.

Morgan won over the hearts of audience members while singing “If Ever I Would Leave You” from
Camelot
.  As winner he will be a featured soloist in the Pacific Symphony’s Pops 2011-12 season.

Richard Kaufman, principal pops conductor for the symphony, said he was especially impressed by Morgan’s performance.

“Each of the performers was terrific, but Cody Morgan’s beautiful rendition of “If Ever I Would Leave You” was voted the winner … and he sang in a way that would have made Robert Goulet proud!” Kaufman said.

Morgan’s win doesn’t change his immediate post-graduation plans, which are to take a year and try to vigorously pursue a music career.

Congratulations!
