Paramount snags Chapman screenwriter's new film

A romantic indie feature wowing audiences at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and co-written by Chapman University alumnus Ben York Jones ’07 has reportedly been bought by Paramount Pictures for $4 million.

Like Crazy
is described in Entertainment Weekly’s online publication
EW.com
. Jones told
OCWeekly
, which is publishing the filmmaker’s blog posts from Sundance that “I don’t think anyone here with the film has gotten more than an hour or two of sleep in the past 36 hours.”

Like Crazy
was co-written by Jones’ long-time friend Drake Doremus, who also wrote
Douchebag
, the dramedy road trip film that starred Jones and was another Sundance hit last year. In a recent story about the film,
Los Angeles Times
film critic Kenneth Turan praised the work as “impeccable.”
