Professor Badham's iconic 'Saturday Night Fever' stays alive in Library of Congress

Some of us of a certain age will never forget that image of John Travolta strutting around in front of his bedroom mirror, donning slick disco duds for a night on the town in
Saturday Night Fever.

But for the kids and film scholars among us who don’t have that moment burned into their memories, there’s good news. Original copies of the iconic 1977 film directed by
John Badham
, professor, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University, will be preserved by the Library of Congress as part of its
National Film Registry
. Each year the Library of Congress chooses 25 films historians deem “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant and worthy of preservation for future generations. The original films are preserved in cold-storage vaults and kept safe for future viewing.
