Chapman student Sarah Van Zanten in Washington, D.C. this month.

Chapman University senior Sarah Van Zanten was the keynote speaker at the 13th Annual Celebration of Women to Watch awards in Washington, D.C. last week. The event was sponsored by
Jewish Women International.

Van Zanten was invited to speak about her involvement with “When Push Comes to Shove, It’s No Longer Love,” the group’s educational program aimed at stopping teen and young-adult date abuse, as well as her personal experience with date violence.

“It was amazing that all these women and people didn’t really know much about dating violence and how often it happens with teen-agers. I was glad to help show them how it affects teens and how often this happens,” Van Zanten said. Click
