Professor Koshak guest conducts Honor Orchestra at UNLV

Professor Emeritus John Koshak

John Koshak, conductor and professor emeritus of music, recently served as guest conductor for the Clark County Honor Orchestra in Las Vegas, Nevada. Maestro Koshak directed the orchestra in rehearsals on Nov. 18 and 19 and on the 20th led them in a concert at the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, performing works by Arensky and Dvorak.



Professor Koshak continues his work with the Conductors Guild, as a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Mentoring Committee. As mentoring chair he leads a group of 14 professional and university Conductor-Mentors in advising and working with conductors both in the United States and internationally. In January 6-9, 2011, he will organize and lead mentoring/consultation sessions for conductors at the Conductors Guild Annual Conference

in San Francisco.

The fifth edition of his book,
The CONDUCTOR’S Role, Preparation for Individual Study, Rehearsal and Performance
was recently released and is being used in universities across the country and locally in Southern California. It was recently used as the main focus of a conducting workshop in Virginia.
