[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg5NPBzfM_o] Don’t you just hate when those scientific expeditions go awry and some ooky-spooky creature from the depths of the Amazon nabs your sweetheart?
Us too! Seriously, it’s so much more fun to watch other people jump in the murky deep and get all heroic. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do Friday evening when Jim, Jerry and Marla’s Black and White Film Festival returns with “The Creature from the Black Lagoon.”
The 1954 monster flick is an absolutely perfect bit of campy Halloween fun. And here’s a bit for the trivia fans out there: The underwater creature scenes were played by champion swimmer Ricou Browning, who had to hold his breath for long takes without scuba gear.
The movie starts at 8 p.m. in Attallah Piazza. Free admission, popcorn and candy, as always. There’s plenty of seating, too, or you can bring a picnic blanket and your own goodies. Just steer clear of the fountain. You never can tell you know …
