Beatles fun for all in the piazza at Chapman

The Beatles tribute band Paperback Writer had the crowd of more than 1,000 twisting and shouting in  Attallah Piazza on Friday, Aug. 6, during the second of Chapman University’s three free summer concerts. The band put on an excellent performance that included a costume change, as it shifted from Ed Sullivan Show-era black suits to  Sergeant Pepper-inspired colorful mod coats.

The free popcorn and lemonade also were a hit with concert-goers, as were the grilled foods, sandwiches and snacks available for sale. But the free samples of Cherry on Top frozen treats produced the longest lines, and the Old Towne favorite will be back again this Friday!

The last concert in the Alumni Association-sponsored Free Summer Concert Series will be this Friday, Aug. 13, and will feature The Alley Cats, America’s premier doo-wop group.  The piazza will open at 4:30 p.m. for picnicking, with the concert beginning at 5:30.
