Distinguished Writers Series will present bestselling author
David Sedaris
on Wednesday, October 27 at 8 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Tickets will go on sale soon at $40 for the general public, $10 for students – more ticketing details, including contact information and on-sale date, will be announced as they are finalized.

His newest book, a collection of fables titled
Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary
(with illustrations by Ian Falconer), is set for release this fall.

He and his sister, Amy Sedaris, have collaborated under the name “The Talent Family” and have written half-a-dozen plays which have been produced at La Mama, Lincoln Center and The Drama Department in New York City. These plays include Stump the Host, Stitches, One Woman Shoe, which received an Obie Award, Incident at Cobbler’s Knob and The Book of Liz, which was published in book form by Dramatists Play Service. David Sedaris’ original radio pieces can often be heard on This American Life, distributed nationally by Public Radio International. He has been nominated for three Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album. His latest audio recording of new stories (recorded live) is David Sedaris: Live for Your Listening Pleasure (November 2009).
Sedaris will read from
Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk
and his other works during his Chapman appearance, and he will also participate in a Q&A with the audience. He will also be delighted to sign his books, which Barnes & Noble will have on sale in the Memorial Hall lobby.
