“We were just the little engine that could. And the word of mouth just kept moving on this beautiful and entertaining show. And we’re so proud,” said Winslow Kashani, speaking from a New York airport this morning. The couple, along with their son, Timothy, rushed back to London early Monday so Winslow could return to the stage Tuesday in
Paradise Found
, another production by Apples and Oranges.

“I was in New York for only 21 hours, but it was worth every minute of it,” said Winslow, who hosts
Coast to Coast
, an arts television program produced by Chapman’s Panther Productions and is a member of Fashionable Women of Chapman .

The energetic musical
Memphis
is a fictionalized take on real-life events that sparked the birth of rock ’n’ roll when a young, white radio DJ falls in love with an African-American singer whose career is rising, but who can’t break out of segregated clubs. When the duo team up, her soulful music reaches radio audiences everywhere, and the Golden Era of early rock takes flight. But as things heat up, their music – and their love – are put to the test.

Memphis
also won Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score Written for Theater and Best Orchestrations.
