Chancellor Daniele Struppa and Korea University President Ki-Su Lee signed a memorandum of understanding at a Monday luncheon here, opening the door for an official student exchange program between the two universities.
“It’s the first formal step in a really long-term relationship” that will further Chapman’s goal of educating students to become global citizens, Chancellor Struppa said.
Bob Bassett, dean of Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, likened it to the days when Chapman sponsored World Campus Afloat, now part of the Semester at Sea program.
“In many ways I think we are trying to bring that experience back for our students,” Dean Bassett said.
Korea University is a private, non-sectarian research university and is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in South Korea. Hosting Monday’s lunch was Susan Yang, Ph.D., professor, Department of Physics, Computational Science and Engineering, Schmid College of Science, and director of International Science Programs.
I think this is a wonderful idea. I am Ji Wan Kim, a sophomore International Business major, currently studying at Korea University as an exchange student. I could testify to the outstanding performance of this institution! To see the two schools come together is quite amazing. Go Chapman! Welcome Korea Univeristy!
