Italian scholar discusses photography, film today

Acclaimed Italian poet, translator and scholar Dr. Pasquale Verdicchio, from the University of California, San Diego, will present the second annual Musco Italian Studies Lecture this morning at 11 a.m. in Beckman 104.

Verdicchio’s lecture, titled “Re-Imaging the Nation: From neorealism to the fiction of the documentary” explores the role of photography and film in the history of Italy, from its unification period, through the Mussolini era and to the influences of its contemporary filmmakers.

Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
