Madison Lecture to portray 1810 contract law case

This year’s Madison Lecture will reenact the historic U.S. Supreme Court case Fletcher v. Peck from 1810, the first high court ruling to invalidate state law in conflict with the Constitution. The re-enactment is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in Kennedy Hall. A reception to honor former dean John C. Eastman will follow.

The Madison Lecture, the School of Law’s annual portrayal of a landmark trial, will feature Jurist-in-Residence Janice Rogers Brown of the U.S. Court of Appeals, D.C. Circuit. Law students and professors typically take part in the reenactments as well.
